Not even a whole day has passed since Activision's announcement of their new anti-cheat system, Ricochet, and it seems that the company is already having problems.

According to a report from ModernWarzone, Ricochet's kernel-level driver, which is the main component of Warzone's anti-cheat system, has already been leaked and it's currently circulating among those who produce hacks and cheats for Call of Duty games.

The report says that leaked code and files have been available for quite some time in private groups and Discord servers, but apparently these files are now publicly accessible via a public cheat forum.

While at the moment we can not confirm any of these claims, ModernWarzone states that "numerous sources with a deep level background in the cheating scene" have checked the files and confirmed that it's a real thing.

The leak is now spreading rapidly within the hacking community, and ModernWarzone's anonymous sources confirmed that they will be of "great use" for cheat developers as it will give them insight into how the anti-cheat works.

According to the same report, the leaked files are at least several weeks old, so this is probably not the most up-to-date version of the driver.

How will this leak affect Ricochet?

While this is definitely problematic for the new anti-cheat, it's important to note that Ricochet is still in development, and the leaked files are apparently several weeks old, and not the latest version of the system.

Cheat developers will definitely have a field day with these files as they will be able to study them and see how the system works, but ultimately, they would have had access to the kernel driver one way or another when the system releases in November.

At the time of writing, Activision hasn't yet confirmed if the leak is real or not and likely won't.
