The rumours about Vanguard first started appearing in March of this year, and back then it was reported as a very real possibility that we will not get a new Call of Duty game in 2021.
In the meantime, Sledgehammer Games announced that they are officially working on the next Call of Duty game, reaffirming everyone, that the game will, in fact, be released by the end of this year.
And now, after a lot of rumours and speculation, it seems that the reveal day is finally here.
Warzone "Vanguard reveal" event date and time
According to a prominent Call of Duty insider, ModernWarzone, the worldwide reveal of Vanguard is set to happen on Thursday, 19th August, at 10:30 am PT / 1:30 pm ET / 7:30 pm CET.
The reveal will happen as an in-game event in Warzone, similarly to how Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War was revealed last year.
When the reveal starts, it will trigger a series of events in Warzone, which will lead to players discovering new details and ultimately they will be shown an announcement trailer for Vanguard. At least that's how it was for the BOCW reveal.
Asides from the date and time, we currently don't have any further details about the event, but it should be noted that puzzling voice lines from "The Numbers" event were also datamined a week ago, which might be connected to the Vanguard reveal event.
There are also mysterious Red Crates that have appeared in Verdansk following the Season 5 update, which can be found in several locations: the centre of the Stadium, nearby the bridge to the Hospital, and west of the Airport.
Asides from the loud humming noise they produce, there's nothing particularly interesting about them, but they might play a role when the reveal event starts.
The biggest Vanguard leak to date occurred last Thursday when the early access open beta and Ultimate Edition bundle were found via the latest Black Ops Cold War update.
Several other leaks and reports have appeared regarding Vanguard over the last few months, speaking about what can we expect from the game, and when the game might be revealed.
From these leaks and reports, we've learned that the game will be set in the pacific theatre of World War 2 and that it will come alongside a new Pacific Warzone map.
Tom Henderson, a renowned industry insider who correctly leaked many details about Battlefield 2042, reported that the game will feature the Ground War mode and Headquarters from COD: WWII, the previous World War 2 entry of the franchise, and one which was also developed by Sledgehammer Games.
The official announcement of the reveal event should probably come tomorrow when we may hear more details about the event.
Finally, when it comes to the release date, Tom thinks that the game is going to be released in early November.
