Since the original Counter-Strike, one of the most important aspects for competitive players is to get access to the dev console, tweaking various settings to make the game not only run better but use certain binds and much more. In Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), you will also want to enable the console as soon as possible.

In this no-nonsense guide, we explain all the steps you need to take to enable the dev console in CS2 and how to change the keybind if you want to open the console with anything other than the default option.

We are just going to get right to it. Follow the simple steps below to enable the dev console in Counter-Strike 2:

  • Launch Counter-Strike 2 via Steam.
  • Click on the Settings icon on the top-left side.
  • Click on the "Game" tab.
  • The sixth settings option will be "Enable Developer Console."
  • Toggle the option to say "Yes."

In rare cases,  you will need to exit and restart Counter-Strike 2 for the settings to take effect. From here, you can open the dev console using the tilde key "~" on your keyboard. It is generally located on the left side of your keyboard next to the "1" key.
