Astralis knocked into Showdown after BLAST disappointment

Two upsets in a row will see Astralis in the BLAST Showdown for one last chance to qualify for the Spring Finals in Moscow in April, while three teams remain in Group B.
Astralis knocked into Showdown after BLAST disappointment

Following a huge upset by Complexity Gaming in their opening match, Astralis have become the first Group B team sent into the Showdown with a subsequent loss to Natus Vincere.

BLAST Premier's Spring Season has seen FaZe Clan and Team Liquid through to the Spring Finals after Week One, with most expecting the dominant Danes to join them.

Instead, the initial loss to Complexity was seen as a big surprise and many were waiting for Astralis to bounce back in the face of 'elimination' from the main event.

Na'Vi themselves lost to Team Vitality 2-0 in their initial matchup so had to fight for survival in the Elimination Match.

The first map, Train, went to Astralis in convincing 16-6 fashion, with their old stomping ground of Nuke as the second pick.

Nuke saw a strong Na'Vi CT side half, with 10-5 converted to 16-9 in their favour as Astralis failed to take control on a map they famously dominated on with a streak of over 30 victories last year.

The decider map was Inferno and it could have gone either way. A 16-14 finish saw Na'Vi snatch the victory from the jaws of defeat and make their way into the second semifinal.

They will face the winner of Vitality vs. Complexity on 9th February, before the grand final between the winners of both games later that day. Making it to the grand final is the last step in order to make it to the Spring Finals that will be held in Moscow this April.

Two more teams from Group C will make it through, before two final teams are given the chance to earn their spots through the BLAST Showdown including Astralis, Ninjas in Pyjamas, MIBR and invited teams that will be revealed at a later date.
