When Will Cyberpunk 2077 Get New Game Plus?

CD Projekt Red's ambitious open-world action RPG Cyberpunk 2077 has had its fair share of ups and down since its release. Now, as the dust has settled and the game's more optimized on current-gen platforms, many are willing to venture into the metropolis of Night City.

Like most AAA open-world RPGs,Cyberpunk 2077 offers multiple story paths, numerous side activities, and hidden easter eggs that can't be explored in a single playthrough.

For games like these, developers tend to release a New Game Plus update that allows players to replay the game with their end-game weapons and gear. 

The Cyberpunk 2077 NG+ has been one of the most requested features in the game. But has this update made its way to the game yet? Read our guide to find out. 

No Cyberpunk 2077 new game plus mode with the Edgerunners update

Unfortunately, there is no New Game Plus mode in Cyberpunk 2077 as of this writing. CD Projekt Red recently deployed the massive 1.6 patch, which came with the Edgerunner anime update and a plethora of quality-of-life features. The new game plus wasn't part of it.

Will the New Game Plus mode ever come to Cyberpunk 2077?

While nothing has officially been confirmed, a New Game Plus mode could eventually make its way to Cyberpunk 2077. After all, The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt ended up receiving it, so there's a slight possibility that CDPR would do the same for Cyberpunk 2077.

We also know the developers have confirmed that they have - at the very least - looked into the implications of the New Game Plus mode.

"NG+ for CP2077 is an incredibly complex feature to make," explained the Cyberpunk 2077 lead-level designer Miles Tost on Twitter.

"It's rebalancing the entire game (enemies, equipment, items) and tons of testing/tweaking; there are many skill checks in gameplay and dialogues, what happens here? How'd we handle/balance attribute + perk points?"

Do you keep your vehicles? How do we handle all those scenarios?

Just to name a few questions we'd need to answer.
Non of which are impossible, but you see how it is a lot more work than one may think on first glance.

If you're now thinking 'well this sounds like it's never coming', Tost did at least offer some hope it might arrive in the future, albeit under the caveat of 'No promises'

While CDPR seems to be examining various ways to add such an update, as of this writing, there's no ETA on NG+ on Cyberpunk 2077.

What we do know, however, is that CDPR has ceased support on the last-gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077. So even if an NG+ mode were to drop, fans shouldn't expect it to release on the game's PS4 and Xbox One versions.
