PUBG Mobile publisher Krafton has been granted the rights to produce an official mobile version of Dark and Darker. Despite Ironmace's medieval extraction battle royale still being in early access, it's already developed an enthusiastic following. The Krafton-published version will introduce the thrill and challenge of PvPvE dungeon crawling to a whole new audience of mobile gamers. So what do we know about the game? Read on, we'll bring you up to speed.
Release Date Window
Dark and Darker Mobile is planned to release in 2024, however for the time being there is no specific release window, so who knows when the game might launch.
If we had to guess, we imagine the game could be targeting an early 2024 release window. We say this because visitors to G-Star 2023, an exhibition held in South Korea, were able to go hands-on with a playable demo of the game.
Since the game is in a playable state, you'd imagine that development is going well and we could see it launch sooner rather than later.
What is Dark and Darker Mobile
"In Dark and Darker Mobile, adventurers will choose from five different classes (Fighter,Barbarian, Ranger, Rogue, and Cleric) before embarking on a daring journey filled with hidden treasures, unique environments, and emergent gameplay opportunities. As adventurers seek untold riches from dark dungeons, a mysterious magnetic field called the Darkswarm slowly forces opposing players and other dangers closer together. In order to escape with their loot and their lives, adventurers must find an escape portal or lose everything. Each adventure promises a new story to tell with an opportunity for limitless treasures or absolute doom."

29 January 2024 - Dark and Darker Mobile launches "this year"
KRAFTON has further confirmed its plans to release the mobile version of Dark and Darker later this year.
According to KRAFTON CEO CH Kim, "This year marks the beginning of the launch of our new lineup, starting with Dark and Darker Mobile, and it will be the first year to see tangible results from our 'Scale-up the Creative' strategy. With the aim of evolving the process into a virtuous cycle, all members should dedicate their full efforts into game development."
16 November 2023 - First Gameplay Shown At G-Star Event

"KRAFTON, Inc, the creators of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS and PUBG MOBILE, officially unveiled Dark and Darker Mobile at G-STAR 2023, an international gaming event in Busan, South Korea. This announcement marks the first time the game is being shown since KRAFTON inked an exclusive global licensing deal with IRONMACE to adapt their explosive gaming hit for mobile platforms.
Developed by KRAFTON’s Bluehole Studio, Dark and Darker Mobile blends the intrigue of dungeon crawlers, the depth of RPGs, and the tension of battle royale survival to recreate the unique blend of extraction-based gameplay that made the original game such an exhilarating experience. By drawing on KRAFTON’s vast mobile gaming experience, the game will be tailored and optimized for mobile users, ensuring it runs and plays well for a mobile platform.

24 August 2023 - Dark and Darker Mobile Announced
"We've been watching Dark and Darker's potential and distinct creativity with great interest," Krafton senior head of publishing Rafael Lim told GamesIndustry.biz.
"From the genre to the setting of the overall IP, Dark and Darker tapped into something compelling with its existing PC release."
With regards to the legal battle, a Krafton representative merely added, "We are monitoring any judicial decisions as a third party."
