Dark and Darker's latest major update has introduced the first iteration of a new quest system and now the in-game merchants will provide players with quests that can be completed to earn extra rewards and unlock access to better items, crafts, and deals. For everything you need to know about this new quest system, including what quests are available from merchants, as well as the rewards you'll earn for completing these tasks, then read on.

9 February 2024 Update: Nicholas merchant quests have now been removed from the game.

When Do Merchant Quests Reset

For now, the developers haven't mentioned when Merchant quests will reset, but we would imagine it will take place following every Dark and Darker wipe. Of course, it's possible that the quests themselves might stay the same, but progress will be reset with each wipe and/or new season. Equally, we imagine that quests from special event travelers and merchants (such as Jack O Lantern and Nicholas) will be removed entirely when they're rotated in and out of the game. We'll be sure to keep this section updated as more information on this new feature is confirmed.

Past Quests

Certain quests are presently inaccessible within the game, as they are tied to seasonal merchants who are currently out of rotation. In spite of Merchants and quests being removed from the game, as of Hotfix 31 Patch, The Collector will now purchase Candy Canes, Gingerbread Cookies and Heart Candies from players so they don't go unspent.
