Starting the Dead Cells Return to Castlevania DLC is a lot easier than you might think. However, it might not be very clear to those who just recently bought Dead Cells. Dead Cells is a Rogue-lite game where each run is randomized. Players will complete or lose runs and then repeat the process for progression.

If you are starting on a brand new save file, you first need to reset at least 3 runs. That means you either started three runs and completed them or died in them. Once you do that, you will be able to find Richter Belmont in front of the Castle Outskirts, the first area for the Castlevania DLC. Enter the room and your Castlevania DLC run will begin.

How Do I Know If I Have Access To The Castlevania DLC?

The bats are a great indicator that it is time to start the Castlevania DLC in Dead Cells. (Picture: Motion Twin)

There is a pretty obvious indicator to check if you have access to the Castlevania DLC in Dead Cells. When you spawn in the prison cells, you will enter the Flask Room with all your items. In that room, a horde of bats will fly past you. The bats indicated that you can now access the Castlevania DLC in Dead Cells.

You will also meet Richter Belmont for the first time as well who will be in front of the door of the Castle Outskirts. Just remember that in the following run, the bats and Ricther will disappear. You will be able to start the DLC by entering the Castle Outskirts which is beyond the Castlevania-like stairs in the Prsoners' Quarters.
