This was confirmed by Jo Berry, writer for Dead Space, via an interview with Inverse, who said:

You'd definitely benefit from going through the USG Ishimura a second time.

How To Unlock Dead Space Remake NG+ Mode

While nothing is confirmed at the moment, we are 99% sure you will have to beat the game's story to unlock the New Game Plus mode. This is how it works for nearly all titles with a NG+ mode, so Dead Space Remake will very likely be the same.

If the Dead Space Remake's NG+ mode will be worth is, well, that remains to be seen. With new side quests added, players might want to experience them if they decided just to follow the main story. It is also a great way to challenge yourself, complete achievements, find audio logs and more.

Dead Space Remake New Game Plus Mode Details

At the time of writing, there are no additional details on the New Game Plus mode in Dead Space Remake.
