Bungie is giving content creators a chance to compete in a first-ever Guardian Games competition in Destiny 2.

The 2022 Destiny 2 Guardian Games are finally live, bringing new quests, gear, and weapons to earn. Being a less demanding activity than other high-end ones like Trials of Osiris, Grandmaster Nightfalls, or Raids, it's the perfect playlist to relax and wait for the start of season 17.

Unlike previous years, the Guardian Games will feature an out-of-game event this time around, the Guardian Games Cup. In it, a total of 42 teams comprised of up to six members each will compete to earn more medialions while raising funds for the Direct Relief Foundation.

There are big rewards for players that tune in and support the streamers competing, so keep reading to find out about everything you need to know about the Guardian Games Cup in Destiny 2.

Each week, team captains and the rest of the members will be tasked with dunking as many medallions as they can during a set amount of time. 

As a reminder, the teams can start their two-hour period during the following times. 

  • Week One: May 3, 12 AM PDT – May 9, 12 AM PDT 
  • Week Two: May 9, 12 AM PDT – May 16, 12 AM PDT 
  • Week Three: May 16, 12 AM PDT – May 22, 12 AM PDT  

To avoid benefitting some teams with more members, the medallion count will be divided by the number of teammates each squad boasts.

In total, 42 teams will play in the Guardian Games Cup. Three per region, for a total of 14 participating regions.



  • Peregrine Grief.Leader: Houndish 
  • Wipe For Damage. Leader: Jarv 
  • Bulletproof. Leader: Zoe

For those that tune in to select streamers during the Guardian Games Cup, they'll have a chance to earn the Follow the Light emblem pictured above.

Furthermore, there are rewards for those that donate to Direct Relief.

  • Guardian’s Oath is a brand-new emblem for those who donate $25 USD or more. 
  • The individual with the highest donation will receive custom digital artwork of a single subject of their choice from PherianArt
  • The team raising the most funds will receive custom digital artwork of their amazing Guardian Games fireteam from PherianArt.
