Destiny 2 is experiencing downtime as Season of the Haunted has concluded its weekly story missions and activities. However, FPS fans have a lot to look forward to in August, with the upcoming Destiny 2 Showcase and the surprisingly mysterious Season 18.
Bungie continues to be tight-lipped about Destiny 2 Season 18, which kicks off on 23rd August 2022. However, the Destiny 2 Showcase is happening on the same day, suggesting that Bungie could reveal more about the upcoming season until the last day.
For the time being, an interesting leak regarding the game's power level has surfaced that should pique the interest of hardcore and casual fans.
Is Bungie removing Power Level from Destiny 2?

According to the notable Destiny 2 leaker, "Destiny Leaks," Bungie is working on removing the game's Power Level system for something more universal. The Power Level system would allegedly be tied to the artifact, which changes every season.
From what I heard way back in Splicer, the team planned on removing power levels and making it all one big Artifact level. Except the main way to rank up would be activities and not bounties.

Moreover, the leak suggests that leveling up would now be tied to completing activities rather than the traditional bounties. If true, this could change the entire structure of how progression works in Destiny 2.
The leaker also claims that Bungie has been working on this new Power Level system since Season of the Splicer, which happened exactly a year ago.

Lately, Bungie has been adamant about overhauling Destiny 2's various gameplay attributes. It started with reworking the game's subclasses, and if the previous rumor is any indication, Destiny 2's Power Level system could be next.

Many fans are hoping to get the Arc 3.0 update with Season 18, just like we got Solar 3.0 with Season 17; indeed, this seems more likely to happen than a complete overhaul of the game's progression system. Either way, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from Bungie, which hopefully is not far.
We will endeavor to update you regarding any further developments.
