To quote Blizzard: “There is no cow level.” That hasn’t stopped a tonne of dedicated players from looking for the location of the Secret Cow Level in Diablo 4, and they might have found it!
There’s a group of fans who keep uncovering new evidence since the release of Diablo 4 on 2 June 2023 that the Secret Cow Level might actually be real, or they are just being sent on a goose chase. New discoveries, however, point towards the location of a Secret Cow level in Diablo 4, which might get enabled in a future update.
Diablo 4 Secret Cow Level Location?
As reported by WoWHead, the “D4 – Not Finding A Cow Level” Discord community, who are definitely not spending dozens of hours a week looking for the Cow Level in Diablo 4, uncovered some interesting details.
As per the image above, the group believes that the Secret Cow Level location is Forlorn Howel, a currently-inaccessible Cellar in the Scosglen region. Just look at that image! It definitely does look like a cow’s head, right?
Joseph “Joe” Piepiora, the Associate Game Director for Diablo 4, has previously said that dungeons provide “opportunities for us to touch back on dungeons that may have appeared in previous games” and even mentioned referencing lighter elements of Diablo. When asked directly about touching back on a Cow Level, the dev replied: “I don’t think there is a cow level?” and Naz Hartoonian stated: “There is no cow level.”
In the Diablo 4 patch 1.1.0, ushering in Season 1, a Stamina Potion was found in the game’s files, with a description reading:
What little remains inside of the vial has long since desiccated into powder.
There is no current way to get a Stamina Potion drop, but its addition does point towards something going on related to the past…
We are not sure how deep this rabbit hole goes. It is believed that the Secret Cow Level in Diablo 4 is not yet active, but it will become active in a future update. Blizzard could also just be toying with fans, sending them on a crazy chase.
