Here's how you can join Diablo 3's Season 26 event, Echoing Nightmare, and get the seasonal rewards Nephalem can acquire by completing one.
Diablo 3 Echoing Nightmare event - How to join and get seasonal rewards

The long-awaited, highly-anticipated Diablo 3 Season 26 Public Test Realm (PTR) is finally live, with a full release expected in mid-April 2022. There are a host of changes and additions in Diablo 3 patch 2.7.3, and it also introduces a new endgame activity, Echoing Nightmare. This activity feels a lot like a super Greater Rift in many respects. However, unlike Greater Rifts, Echoing Nightmare scales as players progress through the event. Simply put, players can progress faster by defeating monsters quickly in Echoing Nightmare.

In this guide, we tell Nephalem how they can join a Diablo 3 Echoing Nightmare event in Season 26, the rewards they can acquire including a brand-new gem, and how they can farm more Petrified Screams.

At the start of Season 26, or via the Diablo 3 PTR which is open at the time of writing, players can join in on the Echoing Nightmare event, testing their mettle against some of the toughest foes from the Burning Hells.

There are some caveats regarding joining the Diablo 3 Echoining Nightmare. For example, Echoing Nightmare can only be joined with a seasonal character, aka a Season 26 character.

This is an endgame activity, so level up and do some Greater Rifts before even attempting it. Read about the requirements to join an Echoing Nightmare below:

  • Petrified Screams and the Echoing Nightmare can only be accessed with seasonal characters.
  • Only one player is required to transmute a Petrified Scream to open an Echoing Nightmare in a multiplayer game.
  • Similar to a boss encounter, all players in a multiplayer game must accept a prompt to enter.

So you need a Petrified Scream to join an Echoing Nightmare, right? But how do you get more Petrified Screams in Diablo 3 Season 26?

Players will need to have a Diablo 3 Season 26 seasonal character to get Petrified Scream drops.

While Petrified Screams is a rare item, completing high-level Greater Rifts is your best bet. They also have a good drop chance after completing an Echoing Nightmare.

There is a tonne of shiny rewards for completing an Echoing Nightmare, from the aforementioned Petrified Screams needed to compete in more Echoing Nightmares, to a new gem.

The Whisper of Atonement is a Legendary Gem used exclusively for Diablo 3 Augment Ancient items. It drops pre-ranked based upon the player's performance in the Echoing Nightmare.

Echoing Nightmare rewards list:

  • EXP
  • Legendary Items
  • Blood Shards
  • Gems
  • Whisper of Atonement

So there you have it, a quick guide to joining in on Diablo 3 Season 26's Echoing Nightmare event, the rewards, and how you can get more Petrified Screams.
