Dota 2 Riyadh Masters 2023: Schedule & Format

The Riyadh Masters 2023 will run from 19th through 30th July in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and comes ahead of the Major tournament of this year's DPC season: Bali Major 2023. The event invites 20 teams to compete for the crown and a share of $15 million played across a Play-In Stage, a Group Stage, and Playoffs.

To kick things off, the Play-In Stage is designed as a round-robin format involving 12 teams divided into two groups. Every team plays a BO2 match with each other in their group, and the top two from each group automatically proceed to the Group Stage. Teams positioned 3rd to 6th in each group compete against their counterparts from the opposite group, with winners also moving to the Group Stage while the losers are dropped.

The Group Stage, composed of two groups of eight teams each (those who progressed from the Play-In stage and eight directly seeded teams), is also played in a round-robin format where each team faces all others in their group in a BO2 match. The four top teams from each group secure their place in the Upper Bracket of the Playoffs, while those finishing in 5th and 6th positions advance to the Lower Bracket. Any teams falling below these positions are eliminated.

The Playoffs are conducted in a double-elimination bracket format, featuring BO3 matches, except for the Grand Final, which is a BO5 showdown. This final stage tests the endurance and skill of the twelve remaining teams - eight from the Upper Bracket and four from the Lower Bracket. The teams battle it out to claim the coveted Riyadh Masters 2023 championship title.
