After several trailers teasing glimpses at gameplay and some of the extensive array of characters on the way, pre orders for all Dragon Ball Sparking Zero editions are now live. We haven't seen a Budokai Tenkaichi game in years, and to say there's a lot of factors at play when picking one would be an understatement.

If you're already bought in but can't decide which edition is right for you, we'll help break down and explain what each one comes with and the key differences here. For those still on the fence, this should help you decide if you'd rather lock in your Dragon Ball Sparking Zero pre order today or wait for launch.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Pre Order Editions Explained

For those unfamiliar with the history of the Budokai Tenkaichi franchise, the release date announcement trailer above is a good glance at what's on the way. Unlike the side-scrolling Dragon Ball FighterZ, Sparking Zero is going to be more akin to what players might've experienced in Xenoverse or Kakarot with massive fight sequences and elaborate destructible environments.

If you're a Budokai Tenkaichi veteran looking forward to this revival, it's probably safe to go ahead and secure your pre order. There are three special editions to choose from for those who don't intend to stick with the Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Standard Edition. It should be a great game with that alone, but we'll break down what matters most about each version to help decide which is right for you.

First, it's worth noting that anyone who gets their pre order in for the standard edition or any deluxe edition of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will get the pre order bonus which automatically unlocks the following characters:

  • Gogeta
  • Gogeta, Super Saiyan
  • Gogeta Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan
  • Broly
  • Broly, Super Saiyan
  • Super Saiyan Broly, Full Power
  • Seventh Unrevealed Character

The press release specifically states the bonus is so you get them "without the need to unlock them in game," so if you prefer to wait you will still have access to these six without having to pay extra for a DLC pack down the line. You can find the currently revealed Dragon Ball Sparking Zero roster here.

Now let's outline each special edition, all of which will feature three days of early access and let you dive in on Tuesday, October 8 instead of waiting until Friday, October 11, 2024.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Digital Deluxe Edition

The Digital Deluxe Edition of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will be your first step up, and the biggest benefit is definitely the included Season Pass. That will give you early access to all three DLC releases, which will feature more than 20 additional playable characters from Dragon Ball Super Super Hero and Dragon Ball Daima.

You'll also be able to Summon Shenron in-game to unlock items, but specifics on that aren't known yet. The price jump from the $69.99 standard edition puts this one at $99.99, but with each DLC pack being a good $20 a pop separately and the season pass likely to be $40 or $50 on its own, there will be a clear savings for grabbing the deluxe edition now.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Ultimate Edition

If you wanna take another small step up for an additional $10, snag the Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Ultimate Edition for $109.99. On top of getting everything that comes with the deluxe edition, this one comes with the Ultimate Upgrade Pack featuring a Goku (Super) Costume with Power Pole, an Emote Voice Set, two Player Card Backgrounds, and one Customization Item. Perhaps the more enticing bonus will be the option to Summon Super Shenron, which unlocks both items and playable characters in the game.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Premium Collector's Edition

In this case, you're not paying extra for the in-game bonuses. What you're actually buying is a gorgeous exclusive diorama display featuring Broly and Ultra Instinct Goku.
