Will EA Sports College Football be on PS4 and Xbox One?

EA Sports College Football is bringing NCAA gridiron action back to gaming, but a massive chunk of gamers may not have access to this upcoming release. While most of the chatter so far has been focused on a potential release date, many fans are already asking questions about game modes and platforms. Let's take a look at what we actually know about whether PS4 and Xbox One will get an EA Sports College Football release.

Updated February 13, 2024: According to a new report from Matt Brown, "schools will share social graphics confirming" they'll be in EA Sports College Football as early as February 15. 

Will EA Sports College Football release on PS4 and Xbox One?

While platforms haven't been formally confirmed, it does look very likely that EA Sports College Football will be exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The extended delays despite going heavily into development in a new generation of consoles era had already led many fans to expect this, but there was a key report early on which indicated that plan.

The first formal announcement of EA Sports College Football was back in February 2021, and news about the title was basically nonexistent for an entire year. It wasn't until September 2022 that a report from The Athletic shed a bit more light on the game, saying it "likely will only be available on next-gen consoles such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to sources and documents."

EA Sports dropped their own exclusive set of details with ESPN just a few months later and didn't comment on platforms, but a lack of pushback certainly indicates The Athletic's reporting was accurate. Documentation they're referring to would've been in place very early on in the development process, but that same report believed the game itself would release in July 2023.

There have clearly been delays in the process as they look to refine the game before relaunching this franchise. It's possible one of those delays was related to making a PS4 and Xbox One port of the title, but there's absolutely zero reporting or indication of that so far. We should get confirmation of platforms when EA Sports College Football is given a formal announcement in the next few months.
