Developer ZeniMax Online Studios will release their next major update for The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO): Necrom chapter across console and PC. Update 40 will be free for all players as they can anticipate new content like Class Item Sets, Achievements, Antiquities, and new balance reworks for existing content.

This update will also add a brand new Tales of Tribute Patron Deck, inspired by the Daedric Prince of Knowledge, Hermaeus Mora, tied to the new PvE activity, the Endless Archive. That said, here's exactly how to get the Hermaeus Mora deck for Tales of Tribute in ESO: Necrom.

How To Get The Hermaeus Mora Tales Of Tribute Deck In ESO: Necrom?

The Hermaeus Mora is the next Tales of Tribute deck coming to The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom's Update 40, which is releasing on PC and Mac via Steam on 30th October 2023. Likewise, with previous decks, it will comprise 12 distinctive cards, including five Contract Agent cards and seven Action cards, less than the recent Almalexia deck.

When acquiring the Hermaeus Mora Tales of Tribute deck, card fragments can be obtained when exploring the Endless Archive, the new PvE activity added in this update. Nevertheless, if you're looking to acquire this deck and have fun utilizing it in Tales of Tribute games, you'll need to locate its card fragments found throughout Apocrypha.

As of writing, four card fragments are said to be collected with the Endless Archive itself. Below, we've detailed how players can obtain the card fragments for the Hermaeus Mora Tales of Tribute deck based on PTS testing in ESO: Necrom:

  • Academ's Mora Deck Fragment: Acquired from Muniment Chests from completing challenges within the Portals to the Unknown or defeating a boss at the Endless Archive.
  • Delver's Mora Deck Fragment: Acquired from Muniment Chests from completing challenges within the Portals to the Unknown or defeating a boss at the Endless Archive.
  • Filer's Mora Deck Fragment: Acquired by purchasing the fragment from Filer Tezurs at the Endless Archive starting location using Archival Fortunes
  • Seeker's Mora Deck Fragment: Acquired from Muniment Chests from completing challenges within the Portals to the Unknown or defeating a boss at the Endless Archive.
  • Slayer's Mora Deck Fragment: Acquired from Muniment Chests from completing challenges within the Portals to the Unknown or defeating a boss at the Endless Archive.

As alluded to, the Filer's Mora Deck Fragment is acquired from Filer Tezurs, a Watchling vendor located within the Endless Archive at the Index Chamber. The fragment will set players back 3,000 Archival Fortunes, an exclusive currency for this PvE activity, which can be earned from quests and other activities like challenges and defeating bosses.

How To Play The Hermaeus Mora Tales Of Tribute Deck In ESO: Necrom?

The Hermaeus Mora deck has a unique mechanic known as "Setback" letting opponents gain resources to make acquiring powerful cards much cheaper at the Tavern. (Picture: ZeniMax Online Studios)

According to the official developer post introducing this new Tales of Tribute deck, its primary focus is playing "fast games and raw power" by granting your opponent resources while granting you more powerful cards. This attribute is, in fact, the deck's new unique card mechanic, "Setback," whereby this resource given to opponents makes buying cards much cheaper and more powerful.

When paired with the Patron ability, players can acquire non-contract cards at the Tavern, but it does come at a price, as the opponent will gain a copy of this card. This will force players to decide whether using the Patron ability, skipping a turn, and not playing a card is a bigger trade-off, especially when the Setback isn't worth it.

Lastly, four new Achievements are related to the Hermaeus Mora Tales of Tribute deck and the deck-building game. Let's look at the related Achievements for the Hermaeus Mora Tales of Tribute deck to unlock in ESO: Necrom:

  • Fathomed the Fathomless: Have collected all upgraded cards for the Hermaeus Mora Tales of Tribute deck
  • Metrand Met His Match: Defeat the Tales of Tribute Master Metrand during a game
  • Pact with the Inevitable Knower: Have collected the Hermaeus Mora Tales of Tribute deck
  • Tentacles in Every Tavern: During Tales of Tribute match-made games, use the Hermaeus Mora Patron ability to receive a card ten times from the Tavern.

The Elder Scrolls Online is available for the PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Mac, PC via Epic Games Store and Steam and Xbox Game Pass. Players can install the game launcher detailed in this guide as Update 40 releases for Mac and PC on 30th October 2023.
