eSport Boxing Club: Release date, info, trailer, more

The gloves are off when it comes to boxing games with ESBC looking to dominate the market with a roster of legendary fighters past and present, campaign and multiplayer modes, and a revolutionary fight engine that will take the genre to new levels. Here is everything we know.
eSport Boxing Club: Release date, info, trailer, more

Is there a more romantic sport than Boxing? Two warriors weighed up, stripped down, enter the ring. Men, and women, usually from the working classes, now pitted against each other. At the highest level, millions will be watching, with millions more on the line.

It's intoxicating and wanting to get even a taste of it is not usual and that is why boxing games have also been popular but few have been as truly ambitious as the new title from Steel City Interactive sets out to be. eSports Boxing Club or ESBC is looking to do what no boxing game has ever done and unite the world of boxing. Bringing together the best real fighters past and present, real-world gyms, trainers, cutmen, promoters and much more.

It's being developed in partnership with the IBF, WBC, and The Ring magazine among others and its stated aim is to be the most realistic boxing game ever.

Whether it will live up to that, and boxing fans expectations, has yet to be seen but early signs look promising and an alpha/beta test expected later this year will give us a better indication of where the title is headed.

The developers now state that the game will release in Early Access by "Summer 2021" with a console launch later in the year.

Their plans are to continue developing the title after launch so it could look very different by the end of 2022 and beyond even that.

Consoles supported are set to include XBOX One, XBOX One Series S/X, PS4 & PS5

eSport Boxing Club - features

The game boasts many features that have got boxing fans excited.

Fight engine

On the fight game engine side, they promise their Next-Gen Footwork will "revolutionize" movement in such games, working with Amateur, Professional, and World Champion boxers to motion capture all the game's movements and punches to help recreate realistic mannerisms and movement in the ring.

There will also be an Adrenaline system that can help your fighter get off the ropes, or take the fight to its end. We haven't seen much on this end but it looks to bring fights to a fitting and climatic end.

In-fight and post-fight injury management will also play a huge part, hire the best cutmen, decide whether to take a lucrative but potentially dangerous fight after sustaining an injury? The choice is yours.

Licensed fighters, personalities and venues from the world of boxing

The game features a growing list of both legendary fighters from the past as well as those that still step into the ring with Joe Frazier, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Jack Dempsey just some of the names that make up the Legends.

More recent names include Arturo Gatti, Roy Jones Jr and France Bruno as well as current fighters in the shape of Oleksandr Usyk, Josh Taylor, and Terence Crawford.

It's not just fighters though with fully-licensed coaches, promoters, cutmen, and presenters all being brought into the game to make it as realistic as possible.

Campaign and multiplayer modes

The game will also feature a fully-realised campaign mode. Create your own fighter in the hyper-realistic character builder, train them, build your team and attempt to take on the world.

There is also a post-retirement phase where you could be lured back into the ring with the promise of a big payday.

eSports you say? Yes, eSport Boxing Club will have a multiplayer mode and even its own eWBC belt. There are scare details about this so far but an annual tournament will be held which will crown the eWBC champion. How the game will tackle lag, a problem that affects all fighting games, has yet to be seen but it must surely be a the forefront of the developers' minds.

We will update this page with more information as we get it.
