The Esports Awards 2022, the most important night of the esports calendar, will be hosted at its new home at the Strip's latest venue, Resorts World, in Las Vegas, United States. This latest move follows three incredible years of being hosted in London, United Kingdom. Additionally, it will mark the seventh year of commemorating the accolades of some of the most prominent faces from esports and beyond.

Esports Awards moves from London to Resort World in Las Vegas

The Esports Awards 2022 will occur on 13th December 2022, with a lavish ceremony at the Resorts World Theatre, a world-class 5,000-capacity entertainment venue. Secretlab and Verizon will also return as sponsors of the 2022 campaign.

From 11th to 13th December 2022, the Esports Awards will also host other events, namely the Lifetime Achievement Ceremony and Leadership Summit, which allows brands, organizations, and industry thought-leaders to debate and network.

Commenting on the move, Michael Ashford, the CEO of Esports Awards, said: "We could not be more excited to start building a legacy with Resorts World Las Vegas. We recognize the awards are a deserved end of year celebration and want to build something that caters to delivering a best-in-class experience."

"Resorts World Las Vegas as a venue has been very forward-thinking in attracting top-tier events and to see the support for esports is hugely encouraging. A huge shout out to Destination Esports, Resorts World Las Vegas, and Hilton Hotels for making it happen."

Lisa Motley, the Senior Director Of Sports And Special Events For The Las Vegas Convention And Visitors Authority, also commented saying: "We're thrilled to welcome the Esports Awards to Las Vegas," adding, "Attendees will enjoy the many 'Only Vegas' experiences that make Las Vegas the greatest arena on earth, from world-class entertainment to unrivaled dining, sports, and attractions."

Last year, the Esports Awards 2021 boasted a spectacular turnout, including a record-breaking 20 million total viewers, 1 million hours watched, and 10 million votes counted.

Following the event's success, which included the appearance of golf legend Bryson DeChambeau the Esports Awards Open in partnership with Golf+ Gaming Club (GGC) will also return this year, allowing attendees to show off their golf skills.

Notably, there will be some changes to the Esports Awards 2022, particularly to the groupings of its award categories. This year's awards will comprise the following new groups: Entertainment, Industry, Creative, Pro, On-air Talent, and Collegiate.

Entertainment has taken over the community awards encompassing the original selection of awards with the addition of "Esports Content Series of the Year," "Esports Game of the Year," and a new award titled "Esports Content Group of the Year."

Beyond this, Esports Apparel of the Year has moved to the Creative Awards group and will be voted on by the creative panel, and Esports Analyst of the Year has been renamed Esports Desk Analyst of the Year. The complete list of awards can be found here

The Esports Awards 2022 campaign starts now, with nominations now open. Key dates include:  

  • 19th May: Nominations open
  • 30th June: Finalists for the Entertainment Categories
  • 28th July: Finalists for the Industry Categories
  • 25th August: Finalists for the Creative & Collegiate Categories
  • 29th September: Lifetime Achievement in Esports Class of 2022 reveal
  • 27th October: Finalists for Pro & On-air Categories
  • TBC: Go Home Show
  • 13th December: Esports Awards 2022
