Who's In The FIFA 23 Ligue 1 Team of the Season, When Is It Released?
FIFA 23 Ligue 1 TOTS now REVEALED with 98 rated Messi

UPDATE - The FIFA 23 Ligue 1 TOTS has been revealed:

Original Story Follows - Ah, Ligue 1. The playground for attacking footballers. Lionel Messi, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe are the standout names in FIFA player's eyes, but scratch beneath the insanely talented surface and you'll find a wealth of talent that is sure to improve your Ultimate Team.

There's still 2 games to go in Ligue 1 this season and has an as of yet undecided champion, but that's not stopping us from going ahead and predicting what kind of Team of the Season we can expect to be released by EA.

Read on for everything you need to know.

When Is It Released?

The Ligue 1 TOTS will be released in to packs May 26th at 18:00 BST. This will be one of the last releases, with only Serie A and the Ultimate TOTS to follow.

Which Players Are Nominated?

The unique thing about the Ligue 1 TOTS is that unlike every other league, there has been no nominations or public vote available. This means players are left in the dark as to which players are possibilities. As of right now we don't know the reason for this, but we have faith we'll still be seeing an extremely exciting team released.

Who's Included?

Here's our picks for the Ligue 1 TOTS, filled with stars from likely champions PSG and the team that pushed them closest for their win, RC Lens.

Defence

GK Gianluigi Donnarumma

It’s another dominant season in goal and it’s still hard to believe the Italian keeper is only 24 years old. We have a feeling EA might hand out a very high rating for this card.RWB Przemyslaw Frankowski

The first of many deserving RC Lens, Frankowski’s role on the right side of the pitch has been instrumental to their title challenge this season. With alternate positions at left back and right back, this could be a cheap but useful card to pick up.

CB Marquinhos

Listen, it’s a Ligue 1 TOTS, of course Marquinhos is going to be in it. After all, he’s been in every single team since FIFA 17. Expect this to be costing well over a million coins, while also being one of the best defenders in the game.

LB Caio Henrique

Realistically this could have been Nuno Mendes in the starting spot, but we’re a sucker for defenders with lots of assists, and Henrique has racked up 9 assists so far this season.

Midfield

CAM Téji Savanier

Much like Marquinhos, Savanier has become a staple of the Ligue 1 TOTS, earning himself a card in 3 of the last 4 seasons. With two informs already this season, he’s well and truly on EA’s radar.

CM Seko Fofana

Another of RC Lens’ key players in their outstanding season, Fofana’s 7 goals and 5 assists from centre mid should be enough to get a place in the starting eleven.

CM Marco Verratti

Stats don’t tell the story of Verratti’s season and would be quite easy to overlook. But you only need to watch a PSG game to see him control the tempo from midfield with ease. With no informs and only 25 starts, this is maybe one of our riskier predictions.

CAM Neymar

A similar story to Verratti, Neymar’s 18 starts would normally make this another risky prediction. The difference, however, is Neymar’s 13 goals and 11 assists. It’s almost impossible to leave out a player that contributes to a goal every 64 minutes, especially when that player is called Neymar.

Attack

ST Lionel Messi

We thought about leaving our reasoning for this prediction as simply ‘it’s Messi’ but this might be the last time we see the greatest of all time receive a TOTS in a Major League. His 15 goals set him as a top goalscorer, while his 16 assists mean he’s the best creator in the league. Oh, and did we mention he won the World Cup this year?

ST Kylian Mbappé

At one point this season, it looked like Mbappe wasn’t going to win the top goalscorer award in the league. Then he went and scored 9 goals in the last 6 games just to remind everyone who runs the league. Our eyes are watering and the mere thought of how expensive his card will be.

ST Loïs Openda

With three informs and one player of the month, Openda has placed himself on both EA and Europe’s radar. His breathtaking pace and clinical finishing has given RC Lens fans joy over the whole season.

Bench

ST Alexandre Lacazette

Lacazette’s return to France has gone much better than most expected. While Lyon have performed below expectation, he’s gone on to score 26 goals in 32 games. As far as FUT goes, this will hopefully sit around the 500k mark and act as an affordable alternative to Mbappe and Co.

ST Folarin Balogun

The player that led the goalscoring charts for so long this season, the Arsenal loanee has been in great form for Will Still’s Reims. With a nationality change to the US coming to his card, it might be perfect to link to those MLS TOTS cards.

CAM Remy Cabella

Cabella’s career as been stop and start throughout, but his career has jumped back in to life at the age of 33 at Lille. 7 goals and 10 assists might be enough to lead them back in to a European place this season.

CDM Benjamin Andre

Maybe an unfashionable choice, but every team needs a cheap card and Andre might be that player. Hopefully the pace boost is high enough to make him at least usable.

CB Facundo Medina

We know we know, another Lens player. But we have good reason. He’s already got two informs this season and with such high pace, there’s a good chance of a TOTS upgrade making him one of the best defenders on the game.

LB Nuno Mendes

Mendes doesn’t start every game, but when he does he’s nothing short of impressive. At only 20 years old, expect to see his name a lot in the future.

GK Brice Samba

It’s probably a coin flip between Samba and Donnarumma over who deserves the starting spot. Samba raised eyebrows after leaving following Nottingham Forest’s promotion last summer, but his decision has paid off big time with RC Lens guaranteed to be in the Champions League next season.
