FIFA 22 is right around the corner, with some players already enjoying what EA has in store for them via Early Access, many new football fans will dabble in the world of the most successful sports simulator in the world.
Knowing the control schemes of a game with different aspects of gameplay, all intertwined and at play at the same time due to the fast-paced nature of football, can be daunting for a newcomer.
It can get confusing having to memorise controls for when you're attacking, defending, when are you looking to counter-press or fallback, retain the ball or counterattack. Fear not, as we're here to help.
While we've talked about more advanced techniques before like how to pressure the ball, how to perform fake shots, or control the goalkeeper, let's go back to basics, giving you all the essential controls you need to know in FIFA 22.
FIFA 22 - All controls
There are plenty of controls and systems in place even at a basic level within FIFA 22, both in terms of attacking and defending, and general movement controls.

FIFA 22 Best controller settings
We'll keep it simple here, unless you are a veteran of the series who has developed a unique style or found their perfect controller scheme, the default button settings are perfectly designed to execute everything you need to succeed in FIFA 22.
EA Sports has created a layout that doesn't require too many motions, and even when you need to take your hands off the sticks to use the D-Pad, you'll often be doing so during downtimes of a match.
