Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth Xbox Release Date

Xbox releases aren't always on the table when it comes to Final Fantasy titles, and those that are typically arrive later than other platforms. Even famed MMORPG Final Fantasy 14 is still gearing up for its Xbox release, despite being around for over 10 years. But plenty of Xbox fans are hoping to enjoy Square Enix's next title, Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth.

As the second installment to the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project, Rebirth picks up where Remake left off, with Cloud and party ready to step foot into the world outside of Midgar. But if the ending of Remake is anything to go by, it seems players could expect a number of deviations from the classic title's original story. But, for some, the main question is when will Xbox fans have the chance to experience it for themselves?

When Does Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth Release On Xbox?

At the time of writing, Final Fanatsy 7: Rebirth does not have a scheduled Xbox release date. However, we'll be sure to update this article should things change. 

Perhaps this isn't too surprising, given that the previous title, Final Fantasy 7: Remake, has yet to receive an Xbox release. But things could be looking to change in the future. In an interview with IGN, Xbox head Phil Spencer said it's something they could be working towards. "I recognise that when people buy an Xbox, they want to make sure the great games that they want to play are coming," Spencer said.

"If there's any publisher out there where that hasn't been true, Square's one of the top. Sarah Bond [Corporate Vice President, Game Creator Experience and Ecosystem at Microsoft] and I fly to Tokyo and have conversations, and we’ve spent a lot of time with Square. There's obviously business deals and relationships that will have to get worked through on certain games. "

Signs have been looking positive following the effort made to get Final Fantasy 14 onto Xbox consoles. "So you'll hear more. I'm not going to push them. They’re going to have to find their own rhythm. But having them make a commitment to Xbox was really important both to me, and I've heard it from the community, to the community as well. And 14 was more of a commitment.” 

It's strange, in a way, that plans aren't already open about Final Fantasy 7: Remake & Rebirth making their way to Xbox given that the Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core remaster did get an Xbox release. Here's hoping that fans will be able to get the full package on Xbox consoles sooner rather than later.
