Blumhouse Productions' Five Nights At Freddy's (FNAF) has had a successful three-day opening weekend, becoming the biggest opening weekend for the studio. This feat, which was previously recorded by 2018's soft reboot of Halloween, grossed $76,2 million during its opening weekend, for which FNAF has pulled in around $80 million, according to US entertainment site Deadline.

As for how it faired internationally, FNAF has grossed over $130.6 million, making it the highest-grossing horror year-to-date ahead of The Nun 2 and Halloween. As the push for simultaneous theatrical and streaming release has seemingly worked out for Universal Pictures, who distributed the film, the ultimate goal was to see an increase in growth relating to paid subscriptions for Peacock.

The publication reported that the film recorded a strong $39,4 million on opening night, which included the $10,3 million from Thursday's preview night. However, following Saturday's box office earnings coming in at $24.2 million, it saw a slight drop by 34%, grossing $16 million before hitting the $80 million mark by the end of the weekend.

While the film is currently available to stream on the US streaming service, Peacock, FNAF fans always intended to head out to theatres across the US. This didn't discourage fans from streaming the film on Peacock as it became the second largest "theatrical day-and-date debut" behind Marvel Studios' Black Widow, which earned $80.3 million during its opening weekend.

The film also became the second biggest video game-to-film adaptation for 2023, behind Illumination's The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and the biggest horror film by a female director. Deadline has estimated that the film will retain its grip at the box office going into the first weekend of November as it goes head-to-head with Taylor Swift: Eras Tour and Killers of the Flower Moon once again.

The film follows a discouraged security guard who begins his night shift at the abandoned Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Unfortunately, his first night doesn't bode well as he begins to unravel events that had occurred at the establishment while confronting the truth of his memories.
