A fan favorite rifle returns to Battle Royale modes for a limited time. Here's the Hunting Rifle location in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2.

Within the V20.30 hotfix for Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2, a few items and weapons were unvaulted including the fan-favorite Hunting Rifle. This weapon was introduced as far back as Chapter 1, and it was favored for the damage and third-person perspective that it provides.

Compared to other rifles, the Hunting Rifle has far more speed when firing, and lining up shops is snappy. But the weapon will only be available for a week as a part of a Trickshot Unvault event in the game. That means you'll need to find one asap to get your own playtime in.

Just like the other items that were unvaulted in this Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 update, the Hunting Rifle is a fairly easy find. All three items that were released are considered floor loot, and that means access for anyone that is exploring and searching chests.

Air Strikes, one of the other unvaulted items, is a Legendary piece of equipment which makes the chances of finding it much lower, even if it is considered floor loot. The same rarity is not applied to the Hunting Rifle at all, and it retains its colors from appearances in previous seasons.

Hunting Rifles are likely to appear in any chest that you search. The more rare a container is, like a Supply Drop or rare chest, the better your chances are of finding a Legendary version. However, simply looking on the ground can get you the rifle you want.

The rarities of the rifle go all the way from Uncommon to Legendary, so the pool is far higher. You'll still have to hope that you don't pull one of the other numerous weapons in the game, but after a few matches, you are bound to get the weapon you want.

The lowest damage that a Hunting Rifle will have is on the Uncommon version, and each shot will have a base of 76 damage to the body. There is a headshot multiplier, which is calculated at 2.25x the normal damage of a body shot.

On the Legendary version of the rifle, the damage goes up to 88 damage with a base shot. With a headshot, that could potentially go up to 198 on the best possible shot. There's no doubt that the weapon will be deadly in the right hands.

Keep in mind that there is still only one shot at a time on the Hunting Rifle. The reload time can reach nearly two seconds on the Uncommon version, and bullet velocity is certainly lower than the other two sniper options.

With that said, the third-person perspective that it gives allows for some crazy plays, and it's no wonder that it was brought back for a week of trickshot weapons. For more information on Chapter 3 Season 2, check out the Fortnite section of our site!
