Following the ALGS Year 4 Championships earlier this year, which marked the most attended Championship in ALGS history, EA has revealed that the ALGS will be returning to Sapporo for both Year 5 and Year 6.
Partnering with the City of Sapporo, the deal cements the city as a global hub for Apex Legends, while strengthening the game's competitive presence in Japan and wider Asia. The ALGS Championship will be held at the Daiwa House PREMIST DOME for two more years, having drawn in more than 34,000 fans throughout the tournament earlier this year.
“The energy and passion that our fans in Sapporo bring to the ALGS is unmatched,” said Monica Dinsmore, Head of Esports, EA. “As the Apex Legends ecosystem continues to grow, we remain deeply committed to delivering unforgettable live experiences that bring communities together and elevate our competitors on the world stage. We couldn’t think of a better place to host our ALGS Championship for the next two years.”
Aside from the tournament's residency, the plan also guarantees a Year 6 Championship, supporting the competitive scene long-term. For those in the APAC region, specifically, it shows a commitment to one of the game's most popular markets.
