Fortnite adds split-screen in new update as snow map and annual pass ‘leak’

Fortnite's v11.30 update has officially gone live on Thursday 12 December which adds split-screen functionality, while a number of leaks tease another announcement.

After a photo of support page leaked showing split-screen, Epic Games has confirmed the feature is part of the new update which is live now.

The split-screen feature is only compatible with PlayStation and Xbox consoles and is limited to Duos and Squads, meaning it won’t be supported in Creative, Limited Time Modes, Save The World or Solos (obviously).

There’s a number of small changes in the update too including an increase to the daily item shop gifting limit from three to five, changed ammo indicators, and some preparations ahead of the Star Wars: Rise Of Skywaker live event at Risky Reels on 14 December.

Elsewhere, dataminers HYPEX and xKleinMikex have unearthed a slew of Christmas-themed content potentially on the horizon – including a snow map like last year’s winter event.

Other new features in the leak include an ice hotel, a toy factory and a ski building – suggesting a big winter update is coming to the title.

It's likely this winter update could be the big reveal at The Game Awards, although it's unconfirmed at this point.

Those aren’t the only leaks either, with files in Fortnite’s v11.30 update datamined by Lucas7yoshi revealing an an annual Battle Pass, which will combine all upcoming 2020 battle bundles and feature seven exclusive cosmetics.

All this has yet to be confirmed by Epic Games, so we’ll just have to wait for an official announcement before we throw down the v-bucks.

The Game Awards takes place on Thursday 12 December at 5.30pm PT in the US. If you’re in the UK, the ceremony airs 13 December at 1.30am GMT.
