Myth pens emotional goodbye letter to Fortnite, claims he has found a new love

Myth and Fortnite are like a burger and fries - you can’t quite picture one without the other, but that could be all set to change after the TSM star penned a funny and emotional goodbye letter to the game that made him famous.

Inspired to write the letter after watching a clip from the TV show “My Strange Addiction” which featured a woman who was getting advice from a therapist about her inability to stop sleeping with her hairdryer.

The therapist's advice was simple - write a goodbye letter to your addiction explaining to it all the things it's done for you, why you loved it so much, but most importantly, talk about why you need to let it go.

It was at this moment that Myth, real name Ali Kobani, saw some parallels to his own life and said:

“Right, Imma write mine.”

Opening up notepad and with textbook “sad music” in the background, Myth took a deep breath and penned a funny letter in the style of a passionate relationship gone sour.

“Dear Fortnite” he began, “we’ve come a long way together but I think it’s finally time for us to split”.

He continues, ”from the first season to the last season we’ve had some pretty good times together” before revealing that there is someone else in his life now and she is called Valorant.

“She doesn’t hurt me the way you do.” He says of Riot Games' new tactical shooter.

Myth then goes on to say how things could have been different because Fortnite was his world, but that ultimately he had grown tired of the game.

“At the end of the day I just… I was just tired… tired of cranking 90s. IT’S NOT YOU” He says in a tone that will instantly make you cringe at your own past.

Before immediately backtracking, “NO THAT’S A LIE, IT DEFINITELY IS!” Adding, “but it’s okay because sometimes people just aren’t meant for each other.”

Myth then goes on to suggest that he may well return to Fortnite but, whatever happens, he wants to thank the game for all it's done for him.

“Thank you for making my career, thank you for making me make long life friends, thank you for always looking out for me, and thank you for the good times.”

He then signs off with a theatrical flourish throwing himself back from his keyboard, and mock crying says: “I didn’t have any other choice, viewership was at an all-time low!”

“And we’re done. Stop… I am actually getting sad.” He says as he snaps back to his usual cheery self.

While Myth's goodbye letter was clearly tongue-in-cheek the sentiment in it is one that will be acutely felt by those that have played Fortnite since the beginning.

Over two years after it's release, many feel the game is going backwards with performance and server issues not being addressed, SSBM in public matches, dwindling prize pools, and no broadcasts for major competitions.

Coupled that with general burnout from a game that many have grinded for years on end, it is perhaps no surprise that Myth has found something new to occupy his time.

He is not the only one who has said he is moving on from Fortnite with DrLupo and NICKMERCS, just two of many, who have come out publically to say that their Fortnite days are over.

“Dear Fortnite,

We’ve come a long way together but I think it’s finally time for us to split… from the first season to the last season we’ve had some really good times but there is someone else. Someone else that I’ve been seeing her name is Volorant.

And she doesn’t hurt me the way that you do, but I’m not writing this to say goodbye forever I am writing this to let you know that I love you.

That you were my all. You were my world, and I know things could have been different, things could've changed but at the end of the day I just… I was just tired… tired of cranking 90s.

IT'S NOT YOU…

NO THAT'S A LIE, IT DEFINITELY IS, but it’s okay because sometimes people just aren’t meant for each other and that's okay - incompatible, that is what we are.

Maybe one day I’ll return but till then…

Thank you for making my career, thank you for making me make long life friends, thank you for always looking out for me, and thank you for the good times.”
