Forza Horizon 5's Hot Wheels expansion artwork leaked online

Forza Horizon 5's first expansion pack will feature Hot Wheels content, according to a recent leak posted online. The leak was first posted to the game's Steam page before removing it, but it didn't prevent eagle-eyed players from reposting the artwork image.

It remains unclear if the developers intended the paid expansion to be announced at the upcoming Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, but the timing suggests an official reveal was planned. The expansion details were not revealed in the recent leak, but they could be confirmed in the next few days.

The Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase at the Summer Game Fest promises to deliver exciting gaming news and announcements, but one possibly reveal got leaked ahead of the event. A promotional image appeared on Forza Horizon 5's Steam page featuring the next collaboration between developer Playground Games and American toy manufacturer Mattel.

Redditor Autumnal_Leaves first spotted the Hot Wheels expansion leak before surfacing across the internet, including social media. According to the leak, the Steam page promoted the "Forza Horizon 5 Premium Add-Ons Bundle", which includes an "Expansion 1" with the Hot Wheels artwork accompanying the reveal.

The artwork is highlighted by a Hot Wheels racing car driving in the iconic Hot Wheels loop with the Horizon Mexico Festival in the background. However, as soon as the image was leaked, it disappeared immediately, but an archival version still exists online.

This latest collaboration marks the second time Playground Games and Mattel have worked together on a Hot Wheels expansion; the last was for Forza Horizon 3. The expansion will convert the Horizon Festival map into its stunt arena with rollercoaster-like loops and massive stunt ramps.

Based on the artwork featured in the leak, players will be seeing the Horizon Festival littered with bright orange loops, ramps and tracks in this expansion. Players have wondered when the developer will announce the game's first expansion following its November release, as the untimely leak has revealed what will be included in the expansion.

Details regarding the expansion's release date and content weren't revealed in the leak, and the developer will likely elaborate on this sometime soon. With the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase scheduled for 12th June 2022, we can probably expect to hear more about the upcoming expansion during the gaming showcase.
