Genshin Impact 2.8 leaks - All new content coming with next update

The Genshin Impact 2.7 Update Livestream aired on 20th May 2022, and with that, we finally have an official release date for the version 2.7 update. However, while most of the community eagerly awaits version 2.7, others wait for the Genshin Impact 2.8 update, with many leaks already circulating on social media. 

Accordingly, the Genshin Impact 2.8 update will feature a Summer Islands re-run, Diluc and Fischl skins, and another Echoing Tales event. Beyond this, there is a myriad of new content in the form of new events, story quests, a new hangout event, weapons, a world quest, and more.

Here is everything new coming with the Genshin Impact 2.8 update.

New story quest for Kaedehara Kazuha

The Genshin Impact 2.8 update will feature a new story quest called "Acer Palmatum Chapter: Act I" for the five-star Anemo user and sword wielder Kaedehara Kazuha.

We don't currently have any information on which story of Kazuha the quest will uncover. However, since it's related to Kazuha—who has a rough past, get ready to shed some tears as the story quest will likely share more about Kazuha and his friend's relationship.

New hangout event for Shikanoin Heizou

The version 2.8 update will add a hangout event for the new four-star playable character, Shikanoin Heizou, slated to release with Genshin Impact 2.8 update.

Like any other hangout event, you have to unlock it first using Story Keys that you can obtain by completing eight daily commissions—which takes two days. Once you have completed the daily commissions, you can go to the story quest section in your quest log to claim the Story Key.

Summer Islands is coming back!

Summer Islands, which we officially knew as the Twinning Isle, was first introduced in the Genshin Impact 1.6 update. It was a welcoming addition as the Genshin Impact community enjoyed exploring the Twinning Isle, learning more about the local people who either left or died, progressing the Echoing Tales, and much more.

The Twinning Isle 2.0 is a nuanced version of the previous Island, adding modern structures missing in the first version.

Major event Echoing Tales V2: Dreamlike Visions

The Echoing Tales major event in Genshin Impact 1.6 also returns with new stories to uncover on the updated Twinning Isle, more lucrative rewards to claim, and a lot of exploration and adventure to experience.

The Echoing Tales version 2 is called Dreamlike Visions, and it is going to be the major event in Genshin Impact 2.8 and will remain until the end of version 2.8.

New world quests, activities, challenges

Genshin Impact 2.8 is adding the nuanced version of Twinning Isle, and with that, we will get a ton of new world quests, activities, puzzles, challenges, and other things.

Diluc and Fischl skins

Genshin Impact 2.8 update will feature brand new skins for the five-star playable character, Diluc, and the four-star character, Fischl. A rumor suggests that Diluc's skin is a changing one and is aesthetically different than previously released character skins.

Meanwhile, Fischl's new skin will be similar to some previously released skins. And you can obtain it from an event during the Genshin Impact 2.8 update.

Diluc's lore

During the version 2.8 update, players will learn more about Diluc. Unfortunately, we have no information on what form of Diluc's lore will be available to the players. However, you can expect it to be in the form of either a quest or an event.

New Events

Genshin Impact 2.8 update will introduce two new events called Evermotion Mechanical (jigsaw puzzle minigame) and Secret War event (dungeon battles at Dawn Winery).

New character: Shikanoin Heizou

We are getting a new four-star playable character named Shikanoin Heizou with Genshin Impact 2.8 update. Heizou is an Anemo user from Inazuma. He is the first male catalyst user in Genshin Impact, and his Normal Attack talents, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst attacks are based on martial arts.

New weapon: This is a Sword

The version 2.8 update will also feature a new four-star sword called "This is a Sword," whose description mentions that the blade will take an appropriate name when the time comes or something like that.

It is an Attack based sword whose secondary stat increases ATK% by 41.3%. While the weapon skill, called "Test," triggers Normal, Charged, or Plunging attack hits an opponent— it whips up a Hewing Gale, dealing AoE damage equal to 180% of ATK while increasing the ATK by 15% every eight seconds.
