VK Gaming Win ALGS Midseason Playoffs at EWC 2025

In what became a grueling Match Point Finals in the Midseason Playoffs, China's VK Gaming have cemented themselves as the second-ever winners of the Esports World Cup in Apex Legends. VK beat seven other teams who had become Match Point eligible, including regional favourites Team Falcons, taking the crown on Match 9.

As winners of not only the EWC but the ALGS Midseason Playoffs, VK walk away with $600,000 in prize money and their first ever victory at an S-Tier event. Player Chen "QQ" Yin-hong also takes home an additional $10,000 for being crowned the tournament's MVP. 

VK Gaming's winning roster also includes Wang "LqDuD" Yipeng, and IGL Cai "Kasssa" Denglang. As part of the EWC's format, the team got to choose three teams' crushed keys to sit at the base of their trophy. The team chose the keys of last year's EWC champions Alliance, Team Falcons, and APAC North team FNATIC. 

Of the 20 competing teams, eight in total were Match Point eligible by the final game: VK Gaming, ROC Esports, NIP, GEN.G Esports, Wolves Esports, Team Falcons, 100 Thieves, and Team Nemesis.

VK Gaming will now be looking straight ahead at the ALGS Championships, once again taking place in Sapporo, Japan, where they'll be looking to maintain a winning streak for APAC South.
