The leaked trailer for the upcoming Moonlight Merriment (Moonchase Festival) event surfaced on the internet and revealed footage of what appears to be Yelen, a lookalike of Honkai Impact 3rd’s Fu Hua before developer miHoYo could find the opportunity to confirm.
After the internet poured hours into uncovering more detail regarding the sudden appearance of the character, the information which is currently available revealed some interesting details about who Yelan is, as well as release date and rumours about her potential role in Genshin Impact.
Who is Fu Hua / Yelan?
As previously mentioned, the character appeared in the Moonlight Merriment (Moonchase Festival) event leaked trailer. The location of the event takes place in Liyue Harbour, which fueled speculation that she may be arriving as early as the 2.2. update or a little later in the 2.3. update.
This is based on concrete information derived from a trusted Genshin Impact source, Dimbreath, who first identified code that featured the character’s name back in July 2021.

Based on her appearance, combat style and preferred weapon lead us to believe that she has ties or connections with the Guhua Clan, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
When will Genshin Impact’s Fu Hua / Yelan release?
The developers have yet to officially confirm a release date on when the character will arrive in the game, so there is no set date.
Does Yelen have any relation to Fu Hua?
Baring in mind the details in the leaked video, there are quite a few striking visual comparisons that could be made between the two characters. Granted, both Honkai Impact 3rd and Genshin Impact are developed by the same team, so it wouldn't be too far off if Genshin drew inspiration from the character.
An alternative theory is that Yelen is a younger iteration of Madame Ping. This is largely due to the appearance of the Cleansing Bell in her hands. A different theory suggests that she is the human vessel for the Adeptus, known as the Cloud Retainer, due to the similar colour palettes.
It is yet to be known, however, if any of these theories and characters are distantly or directly related to one another, other aside from the visual similarities. We are also left in the dark regarding the scope of the character, so this would be interesting to see it develop in the following weeks to come.
This isn’t the first time the developers have used visual designs for characters from both titles. We can refer to one of the more recent additions to Genshin Impact, Raiden Shogun, who bears similarities with Honkai’s Raiden Mei, the Thunder Herrscher.
