Genshin Impact Outside the Canvas, Inside the Lens event – How to play, rewards and more

Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse has launched the next event, part of the 2.6 update, Outside the Canvas, Inside the Lens. The event sees the Traveler accepting to assist an artist from Inazuma to meet her deadlines by capturing inspiration for her drawings.

Unable to do this herself due to her ailing health, you will need to meet various requirements before capturing them using your Kamera gadget. This guide details everything about the Outside the Canvas, Inside the Lens event, including the schedule, gameplay details, and more in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact Outside the Canvas, Inside the Lens event – Schedule & eligibility

The Outside the Canvas, Inside the Lens event begins on 1st April 2022 and will conclude on 11th April 2022 at 3:59 am server time. As with most events in Genshin Impact, there are various prerequisites Travelers must fulfill before starting the event's activities.

The prerequisites to complete the Outside the Canvas, Inside the Lens event are the following:

• Must hold an Adventure Rank of 30 and higher
• Have completed the "Ritou Escape Plan", which is part of the Archon Quest "Chapter II: Act I - The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia"
• Have completed the "Snapshots" World Quest

Genshin Impact Outside the Canvas, Inside the Lens event – Gameplay details

Throughout this event, Travelers will have to assist an artist from Inazuma, Asagiri, by capturing photos of various locations across Teyvat. You'll be given a notebook where the artist will provide her commissions, inspiration notes, and requests, including Photography Targets.

Each day, there will be two new designated locations unlocked for the first seven days of this event. To view the details of these locations, open up the notebook to check the notes and click the "Check Photo-Taking Location" button.

Using the details provided in the notes, travel to the designated location, which will be marked with a photography icon on the mini-map. Head into your Inventory and equip the Kamera gadget to prepare yourself to photograph the intended subject.

By paying particular attention to the Photography Targets within the artist's notes, you should be able to take a picture of the target using the Kamera icon at the bottom right side of the screen. Once captured, head back into the artist's notebook and claim the rewards for completing the artist's commissions.

Travelers can repeat this process until all her commissions are completed, and the rewards have been claimed.

• Photography Location: Mondstadt City, Mondstadt
• Photography Targets:
  • The Favonius Cathedral
  • Angle must have three photo-taking points
  • Playable character must face the Kamera
  • Captured using an Anemo Skill

Commission: Legend of the Wind Knight II

• Photography Location: Windrise, Mondstadt
• Photography Targets:
  • Picture is to be taken in front of a large tree
  • Angle must have two photo-taking points
  • Playable character must be associated with the Knights of Favonius
  • Picture taken in the morning between 8 am and 12 pm

Commission: Wangshu Inn

• Photography Location: Guili Plains, Liyue
• Photography Targets:
  • Picture taken at Wangshu Inn
  • Angle must have two photo-taking points
  • Playable character must face the Kamera
  • Picture taken in the afternoon between 11 am and 12pm or at night between 6 pm and 12 am

Commission: Schemes Beneath the Dragon's Spine

• Photography Location: Guili Plains, Liyue
• Photography Targets:
  • Picture taken at Dragonspine
  • Angle must have three photo-taking points
  • Playable character must face Dragonspine
  • Picture taken in the afternoon between 11 am and 2 pm

Commission: The Proper Use of Thunder, Lightning and Blades

• Photography Location: Windwail Highland, Mondstadt
• Photography Targets: 
  • Picture taken at Wolvendom
  • Angle must have one photo-taking point
  • Playable character must use Electro Elemental Burst

Commission: The Fable of Qingce Village 

• Photography Location: Qingce Village, Liyue 
• Photography Targets: 
  • Picture taken nearby Qingce Village
  • Angle must have three photo-taking points
  • Playable character must be in idling state
  • Picture taken during the day between 6 am and 6 pm

Commission: Aporia of the Valley 

• Photography Location: Lisha, Liyue 
• Photography Targets: 
  • Picture taken at Tianqiu Valley
  • Angle must have three photo-taking points
  • Playable character must use catalyst weapon
  • Playable character must face the Kamera
  • Playable character must use Charged Attack when picture taken

Commission: The Rockeater 

• Photography Location: Liyue Harbor, Liyue 
• Photography Targets:
  • Picture taken at Liyue Harbor 
  • Angle must have two photo-taking points
  • Playable character must use catalyst weapon
  • Playable character must face the Kamera
  • Playable character must use Charged Attack when picture taken

Once accepting Asagiri's commission, fulfilling her requests, and successfully taking pictures of the subjects, Travelers will be rewarded for their inspiring efforts. For every picture taken, you will receive the following rewards:
