How to pre-load Genshin Impact 2.4 update

The Genshin Impact 2.4 update, entitled "Fleeting Colors in Flight" will be bringing a new area, characters, events, quest and much more for travellers to digest on 5th January 2022.

With the latest update looming, travellers might want to pre-load the Genshin Impact 2.4 update so they can jump in and experience all the new content as quickly as humanly possible.

Don't worry, we've got you covered. Here's a quick, step-by-step guide to pre-install the Genshin Impact 2.4 update on both PC and mobile devices with ease.

Genshin Impact 2.4 pre-load / install guide

At the time of writing, the file size for the Genshin Impact 2.4 update is unknown. However, developer miHoYo did note that it recommended installing the update over a Wi-Fi connection owing to the "large file size".

On PC, pre-loading the Genshin Impact 2.4 update is as simple as closing and re-opening the game's launcher, then clicking on the yellow cloud icon next to the launch button. 

The cloud icon should have the "Game Pre-Installation" text written on it. You can play version 2.3 while the update pre-loads.

On mobile, follow the steps below to pre-install the Genshin Impact 2.4 update:

• Log into the game.
• Bring up the in-game pause screen (Paimon Menu).
• Tap on the gear icon (Settings).
• Tap on "Other".
• Tap on "Pre-Install Now" to start pre-loading the 2.4 update.

At the time of writing a pre-load option is not available on PS4 or PS5 just yet. Be sure to select the game and check for updates periodically.
