Spanish CS2 Roster Faces Uncertain Future as Gentle Mates Exit

Gentle Mates is set to leave Counter-Strike 2, with the French organisation currently in negotiations to sell its roster to another team – bringing a remarkably short stint in competitive CS2 to a close.

The org only entered the scene in mid-2025, picking up the all-Spanish Iberian Soul lineup that had been left without a home after KOI departed CS2 earlier in the year. That squad – built around players including Alejandro “mopoz” Fernández-Quejo, David “dav1g” Granado, Pere “sausol” Solsona, and Alejandro “alex” Masanet – had already earned a strong tier-two reputation with wins at events like EPIC.LAN 45 and Roman Imperium Cup I before joining the M8 banner.

A Short but Competitive Run

Under Gentle Mates, the roster sat around 25th globally and took maps or series off established names including G2, NIP, and BIG, establishing themselves firmly at the tier-two and low tier-one bubble. They also added titles at Exort The Proving Grounds Season 2 and Galaxy Battle 2025 Phase 3 to their trophy cabinet, showing genuine upward momentum before this exit was confirmed.

The departure fits a wider pattern that’s been playing out across the CS2 competitive scene, where tier-two org support has remained volatile and organisations have cycled in and out of the game at pace. Gentle Mates was co-founded in 2023 by French creators Gotaga, Squeezie, and Brawks, and their CS2 project never quite found its footing at org level despite the roster’s performances on server.

What Happens to the Roster?

The key question now is which organisation acquires the Spanish core and whether the lineup stays intact through the transfer process. Given their ranking and recent results, they remain an attractive proposition heading into the next CS2 Major cycle, and the expectation in the community is that a buyer will want to keep this group together for upcoming qualifiers.

With roster movement accelerating across the European tier-two scene, the next few weeks should clarify both the buyers and the fate of one of Spain’s strongest CS2 lineups.
