Similar to 2018's God of War, God of War Ragnarok features a more methodical combat with a huge emphasis on dodging and parrying.

Parrying with shields is essential to build enemies' stun bar, which in return allows you to execute a brutal finisher to topple them off. Every shield offers unique passive buffs that adhere to different playstyles. Naturally, you will want to continue to upgrade your favorite shields to keep them viable for the end-game activities. 

One valuable resource that you will need to upgrade your shield in the latter half of the game is Luminous Alloy. Here's how you can get it in God of War Ragnarok.

How to farm Luminous Alloy in God of War Ragnarok

There are several ways to get Luminous Alloy in God of War Ragnarok. The simplest way to get it is by looting red & legendary chests. Coffins are also a great source of Luminous Alloy. 

Aside from these, you can also find them in any destructible objects around the nine realms. 
You can also find Luminous Alloy in one of the many chests in Muspelheim. However, to get to this realm, you will have to acquire both the Muspelheim seeds.

Another way to farm Luminous Alloys in God of War Ragnarok is by killing Barking Lizards. They don't spawn in any particular region and can be found pretty much anywhere on the map.
