Here's how to start the new 'San Andreas Mercenaries' missions in GTA Online.
How To Start GTA Online San Andreas Mercenaries Missions: Starting Price To Begin

The latest major content update for GTA Online, 'San Andreas Mercenaries' has finally arrived!

This new slab of free DLC for the game has dropped as part of the usual cadence of Summer updates we've come to expect for the game, adding new vehicles, weapons, and gameplay enhancements to improve the game. There's even a genuine first for the game, with the addition of a new GTA+ feature, thanks to the new Vinewood Car Club too.

However, one way the game has remained consistent is by seemingly splitting the story content into two parts. With the last major update, players got 6 missions released in December with the First Dose Missions, and then another 6 when The Last Dose dropped a few months later.

The new GTA Online San Andreas Mercenaries missions also look like they might be going for a dual split, with 6 new missions released today. If this is your first time playing the game, you might be wondering how to start this new slice of content. Well, read on for everything you need to know.

How To Start The San Andreas Mercenaries Missions In GTA Online?

Before you can start the San Andreas Mercenaries missions players will need to await a call from expert aircraft mechanic and ace pilot Charlie Reed. The call should read a bit like this:

"Hey, this is Charlie Reed, from your hanger. Been a minute right? So, I don't know if you noticed but private militaries are back in business and there's one group of assholes taking serious advantage of the good publicity... Merryweather Security. I'm talking major recruitment drives, government contracts, and all kinds of shady shit on the side. So I've been putting together a team. A team of ex-military, reprobates, guns for hire and good old-fashioned crooks. And we got one objective... doing what's right and putting Merryweather back in the box. And you know, making some serious paper while we're at it. And I call us... The Lost Santos Angles... and listen, I want you to be Team Leader. All you need is some hardware for your Avenger... an operations terminal, and then? We'll be good to go. Let me know what you think."

From the sounds of things, players may first need to own a Hanger property before they get the call from Charlie Reed. You'll also need to buy a Mammoth Avenger plane from Warstock Cash and Carry.

How Much Does It Cost To Start GTA Online San Andreas Mercenaries Missions

It's not cheap, put it that way. To begin playing the San Andreas Mercenaries DLC, you will need to purchase the following items:

  • At least $1,200,000 to purchase a Hanger property. Depending on the location you want to buy, this could cost up to $5,670,000 for a Hanger.
  • $4,787,500 to purchase the Mammoth Avenger from Warstock Cash and Carry. This could cost less at $3,450,000 if you have unlocked the trade price.
  • $1,450,000 to upgrade the Avenger with the new Operations Terminal

Players will need to spend anywhere between $6,100,000 to $7,437,500 before they can get started with the San Andreas Mercenaries missions. This is also taking into account the need to buy a Hanger.

What to Do Once You Have Everything?

Once you have purchased everything you need you can call in your Avenger from the menu and once aboard players should notice a message that reads:

"Log in to Operations Terminal to begin Project Overthrow for Charlie Reed"

Head to the Operations Terminal in the middle of the plane and after a short bit of dialogue, you'll then be able to start the first mission, Reporting for Duty. And that's it; Time to enjoy that new slice of new GTA Online content!
