In the latest document submitted by Microsoft to UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) regarding Activision's acquisition, they have revealed that GTA 6 is expected to release in 2024. The excerpt from the 3.22 section of the document where Microsoft is discussing about Take-Two Interactive reads that "The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be released in 2024."
They have mentioned it after arguing that "Call of Duty is not the most popular franchise" and that Fortnite has consistently been the most popular game since 2017 while Call of Duty's popularity " changes significantly over time, depending on the relevant release." They then mentioned games like "Grand Theft Auto, Tom Clancy, FIFA, and NBA 2K that have matched Call of Duty."
Now, the question is whether Microsoft made the statement regarding the release of GTA VI based on their own resources or based on the previous report by Bloomberg that mentioned that the game is "still at least two years away from release, suggesting a 2024 launch." However, it is unlikely that Microsoft will make such a huge claim in a document submitted to CMA without any confirmation of their own, so 2024 could very well be the year for GTA 6's launch.
