New Gwent cards are officially heading to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s upcoming expansion, Songs of the Past, according to CD Projekt Red. The confirmation came during the Q&A section of the studio’s 10th-anniversary Redstream celebrating Blood and Wine, giving fans a new gameplay detail about the 2027 expansion.
Songs of the Past was revealed as the game’s third expansion. Developers on the stream confirmed the expansion will be aligned in scale with Blood and Wine, setting expectations for the new release.
Gwent Fans, Rejoice
Senior community and social media manager Laura Beitzel asked expert community and social media manager Amelia Korzycka whether new Gwent cards would show up in the expansion. Korzycka confirmed that more cards are on the way.
Elsewhere in the same session, the team also confirmed that the new sword shown in the Songs of the Past artwork holds story significance.
What’s Next
Beitzel also addressed the long-delayed cross-platform mod support, saying the team is still working on it and that it is coming, although there was nothing new to share. The feature was originally slated for 2025 before being pushed to 2026.
The Witcher 4 is now in full production and is set to star Ciri, while Songs of the Past is scheduled to launch in 2027 ahead of it.
