The world's top Halo competition rolls along as we're now set to conclude Split 1 gameplay. It's a highly anticipated tournament and the second major open of the 2022 season, live from Kansas City, Missouri, USA.

Some of the top teams in all of professional Halo will be on hand and the competition will be tense as the stakes have been raised once again. Check out everything you need to know here about the HCS Major Kansas City 2022 including the start time, how to watch, teams, prize pool, and more.

HCS Major Kansas City 2022 - How to watch

The Halo Championship Series is returning to LAN for the HCS Major Kansas City 2022 which will run from 29th April to 1st May. The event will feature Open and Championship bracket players from around the world, along with an open FFA tournament, partnered team booths, and multiple streaming broadcasts.

Viewers around the world will be able to tune into the action on the Halo Twitch channel, as well as the Halo Esports YouTube channel. There is also the option to purchase tickets and attend the event in person for those in the immediate area.

The HCS Major Kansas City 2022 will be broken up into three progressive stages, following the standard Major format for all HCS 2022 events.

  • OpenBracket: Double elimination bracket with the top 8 teams advancing to the next stage in the tournament. The top 4 from the winner’s bracket move forward into pool play, and the top 4 from the elimination bracket (or lower bracket) move on to the championship bracket (starting in the elimination bracket portion). The HCS Majors are global events and will be open to players from around the world. 
  • PoolPlay: 16 qualified teams made up of teams from North America, Mexico, Europe, and Australia / New Zealand will be  drawn into 4 pools of 4 where they will be joined by the top 4 teams from the Open Bracket to play in a single round-robin format. The Top 2 teams from each pool will advance to the winner’s portion of the championship bracket. The 3rd place team will go into round 3 of the elimination portion of the championship bracket. The 4th place team will go into round 2 of the elimination portion of the championship bracket. And finally, the 5th place team in each pool will go into the 1st round of the elimination portion of the championship bracket where they will start in the first round and will face off against teams coming from the elimination portion of the open bracket. 
  • Championship Bracket: 24-team double-elimination championship bracket style to determine the tournament winner. This is the culmination of both the open bracket and pool play, the winner will take home the lion’s share of the $250,000 starting prize pool.
  • Free-For-All: Once the open bracket has concluded, HCS 2022 will be hosting a Free-For-All tournament with a $5,000 prize pool open to all of those in attendance at the event. More format info will be provided at a later date.

As mentioned, the teams at the HCS Major Kansas City 2022 will be competing for a share of the massive $250,000 prize pool Breakdowns for payouts based on placement are as follows:
