We are still awaiting the official price for the PS5, and the Xbox Series X. It is almost as if Microsoft and Sony are waiting for each other to make a move on the next-gen consoles. A famous leaker, who you might know from Resident Evil leaks, AestheticGamer, has now revealed the PS5 price could be higher than the Xbox Series X price, even though the latter offers better performance.

PS5 vs Xbox Series X: Price and performance

First off, you should always take rumours such as this one with a grain of salt until such time as Microsoft and Sony officially reveal the price of their next-gen consoles.

With the disclaimer out of the way, AestheticGamer recently spoke about the PS5's performance in Resident Evil 8, and the possible position both consoles could be in at launch

Touching on the subject, the leaker explained how the PS5 price could be higher than the Xbox Series X price, while the latter has a power advantage.

AestheticGamer goes on to explain the position of the Xbox Series X. While he used Resident Evil 8 as an example of the PS5 performance in third-party games, Capcom's upcoming horror title might not be the only one where the Xbox Series X performance is simply better.

The leaker continues: "(Xbox Series X) the less expensive and more powerful console. I used RE8 as an example, but I've heard from other devs that PS5 struggles with 4k games in particular so you'll see a lot of fake 4k.

"That doesn't matter to some, but get ready for that too. Xbox X doesn't have the same problem."

So why the assumption on the PS5's price being higher than Xbox Series X? Well, it is quite simple. Microsoft is apparently willing to take more of a hit on hardware sales, and make it up via subscription sales with Game Pass, a service the company has been pushing very hard.

Lastly, the leaker has made something clear for Resident Evil fans, noting the PS5's performance will be fine in Resident Evil 8 at launch.
