Sony Announces New Cloud Streaming Device

At the PlayStation Showcase, Sony announced a new cloud streaming handheld, 'Project Q', describing it as a 'dedicated device that enables you to stream any games from your PS5 console using remote play over wi-fi'

The concept design shown off in the showcase has an eight-inch 1080p HD screen, and two halves of a DualSense controller glued onto the screen. It's unclear whether or not this is just an Android device that has been modified to specifically play PS5 games over the cloud, or if this is new technology.

Any games that you do play on 'Project Q' need to already be installed on your PS5, meaning that you cannot purchase this as a replacement for a current-generation console, unlike the Steam Deck. There are no details as of yet on battery life, pricing, or general availability of the console.

During the same segment, Jim Ryan showed off a set of official PlayStation earbuds, stating that they would provide 'lossless audio on PS5 and PC'. He also did not discuss pricing for the earbuds, or a release date.
