WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD Review

The WD_BLACK SN850 is an NVMe SSD that you can install for your PC or next-gen console, offering up blistering-fast speeds.

This is the next generation in PCIe compatible drives. All you really need to know is that it’s twice the speed of Gen3 drives and double the bandwidth.

This model has a stylish little casing with a purpose-built heatsink, which keeps your SSD happy and healthy for a long time. It is compatible with PC and event boasts programmable RGB lighting...what a time to be alive.

The WD_BLACK SN850 capacity ranges from 500 gigabytes, up to 2 terabytes. By installing one of these options, you will beef up your PS5's internal storage by quite a lot, and that's exactly what we did.

After we installed the WD_BLACK SN850 into our PS5 (watch the video, trust me!) we transferred GTA V (86.88 GB) over from the PS5's internal storage in under one minute. 

Booting up GTA V from the WD_BLACK SN850 and loading into a level was even faster than usual if you can believe that. It takes mere seconds and you can start playing, showcasing just how fast the WD_BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD is.
