Bethesda and Tango Gameworks revealed Hi-Fi Rush at the Xbox Developer_Direct showcase, and to the surprise of many fans, simply released the game right away on both PC and Xbox Series X/S consoles. Now, gamers are wondering if Hi-Fi Rush is free-to-play (F2P) or on Xbox Game Pass.

This article outlines how you can play Hi-Fi Rush for free on PC and consoles and if the game is indeed part of the Xbox Game Pass library, so let's dive in with the rhythm of the beat!

Hi-Fi Rush is not a free-to-play title on PC and Xbox. It is a buy-to-play game, so if you want to jump into the rhythm-based combat as protagonist Chai, fighting against an evil megacorp in "raucous rhythm combat," then you will have to pay $29.99 on PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store or Microsoft Store) or via the Xbox store for Series X/S consoles.

This unique action-adventure title, where the world syncs to the music and your actions, looks very interesting and fun to play, so the asking price for Hi-Fi Rush should be well worth it. There is, however, a way to play the game "for free."

Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play Hi-Fi Rush for free. Yes, the game is available right now on Xbox Game Pass, so if you have this service for PC and consoles, you can technically play the game without paying a cent.

There is, however, a Digital Deluxe upgrade, which provides the following items:

  • Two Chai outfits
  • Seven bonus Chai t-shirts
  • 808-Themed Guitar Skin
  • 808 Alternate Skin
  • 20,000 Gears for unlocking combat skills and other upgrades.

The Digital Deluxe upgrade will set you back $9.99 (or $8.99 with Xbox Game Pass).
