Hogwarts Legacy Imperio: How To Get The Imperius Curse

The Unforgivable Curses, Crucio, Imperio, and Avada Kedavra, collectively bring the most destruction and power to any witch or wizard who dares to inflict upon another. While these curses gained notoriety in the Harry Potter film series, these curses can be acquired in Hogwarts Legacy.

Earning all of them is exceptionally challenging, but if you wish to control or influence another person in combat, fighting against their will, using the Imperius Curse, you’ll have to complete a side quest to receive it. That said, here’s how to acquire the Imperius Curse (Imperio) spoiler-free in Hogwarts Legacy.

REMINDER - Hogwarts Legacy was due to launch on PS4 and Xbox One on April 4, but now won't release until 5 May 2023.

How To Get The Imperius Curse In Hogwarts Legacy?

First and foremost, you'll only be able to unlock all three Unforgivable Curses late in the game, as you’ll need to grind enough levels and complete the main story quests. In addition, you will need to have met a Slytherin student named Sebastian Sallow, through whom you will unlock these spells by completing his line of quests. Finally, you'll need to unlock Wingardium Leviosa.

Sebastian's quests will be marked on the World Map, making it easy for you to easily utilize the Floo Flames to travel to its location. At certain points of the quests, you’ll learn more about the Unforgivable Curses, for which you’ll have the chance to attain all of them, with the order being Crucio, Imperio, and Avada Kedavra.

The second Unforgivable Curse, Imperio, can be unlocked by starting the "In the Shadow of Time" side quest, but you’ll also need to have completed the "In the Shadow of the Study" side quest first. For context, you will travel to Feldcroft with Sebastian to visit his childhood homestead.
