Should You Open The Repository In Hogwarts Legacy? Choices Explained

The wizarding world of Hogwarts Legacy requires you to make impactful decisions at various stages in the game. As you approach the conclusion of the main storyline, you'll be tasked with deciding whether to keep the Repository contained or open it.

When faced with the decision to either keep the Repository Contained or open it, many players are uncertain of how to proceed. If you're stuck at this checkpoint and looking for advice on which option to choose, you've come to the right place.

As the story of Hogwarts Legacy draws to a close, the player and Professor Fig find themselves isolated from the other professors who are fighting to protect Hogwarts from a goblin invasion. Meanwhile, the hidden magic repository located beneath the wizarding school has been uncovered, and the players are tasked with the critical role of becoming the 'Keeper' who can wield and manage the ancient magic contained within it.

At this point, opting to keep the repository sealed means that your character decides not to employ the magic it holds in the battle against Ranrok. As a result, the Ancient Magic is safeguarded and kept concealed, and you become the Keeper of Ancient Magic.

However, it comes at a high cost, as Professor Fig sacrifices his life to seal away the magic for good. The option to keep the Repository contained will lead to the typical ending, which requires you to defeat Ranrok on your own without taking the help of Ancient Magic.

Opting to open the Repository will trigger the Evil Ending in Hogwarts Legacy. This means that your character will utilize the might of the Ancient Magic Repository to battle against Ranrok.

However, before that happens, Professor Fig will caution the players to rethink their choices, even though the player character will insist on using the power for good. Players will have the chance to retract their decision and seal away the power. Nevertheless, they also have the option to persist and claim the power for themselves.

Ultimately, if you wield the power of the Ancient Magic, Professor Fig's death will be deemed more heroic than if you choose the standard ending.

What Choice Should You Select?

If you have been following a moral path in the game, it is recommended that you select the option to keep the magic contained, which will lead to a neat conclusion of the story.

On the other hand, if you have been following a darker path, it is advised that you open the repository, leading to the evil ending in the game.

While the cutscenes may differ slightly depending on your decision, it is crucial to understand that the ultimate result will remain the same.

So there you have it. That's everything you need to know about whether to keep the Repository contained or open it in Hogwarts Legacy.
