A new reports suggests that the South Korean studio NCSoft is working on a Horizon MMORPG.

Guild Wars Studio Is Reportedly Working On A Horizon MMORPG

A Horizon MMORPG is reportedly in the works at the South Korean company NCSoft. A new entry in Guerrilla Games' open-world action RPG series was released earlier this year, and it seems the company has plans to expand the franchise in a completely different way moving forward.

The aforementioned information comes from the news site MTN (translated by VGC), which reports that NCSoft is currently hiring for this rumored Horizon MMORPG.

The Horizon MMORPG is reportedly listed as 'Project H' and, as mentioned previously, is being helmed by the studio known for Lineage and Guild War titles.

Interestingly, Guerrilla Games, the creators of 2017's Horizon Zero Dawn and 2022's Horizon Forbidden West, was hiring for a multiplayer game earlier this year. At the time, many believed it to be an online Horizon game though the studio didn't clear up its plan for the said project.

If the reports are to be believed, Guerrilla Games and NCSoft could be co-developing this Horizon MMORPG. It shouldn't seem too far-fetched since AAA studios do a collab with other studios to work on projects. With NCSoft's years-long expertise on MMORPGs, it makes all the more sense as to why PlayStation and Guerrilla Games would approach it to helm a Horizon MMORPG.

Earlier this year, PlayStation announced its ambitious plan to release ten live-service games by 2026. The Horizon MMORPG could be one of them. However, fans should take this info with a grain of salt as nothing has been confirmed by PlayStation or Guerrilla Games as of this writing.

Either way, fans shouldn't expect this rumored Horizon MMORPG to release anytime soon, especially since Guerrilla Games just shipped Horizon Forbidden West.
We do, however, know that the Horizon franchise is expanding in other ways. Netflix announced earlier this year that it's working on a  Horizon Zero Dawn TV series. Additionally, a Horizon PSVR 2 title called Horizon Call of the Wild is all set to release in 2023.
As such, it's safe to say that the fans of the Horizon franchise have a lot to look forward to in the next couple of years.
As for the Horizon MMORPG, we will update this article once more info is available.
