Doublelift moving from Team Liquid to TSM, report claims

Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng will return to Team SoloMid before the LCS Summer Split, a new report has claimed.

It was previously rumoured Team Liquid were shopping Doublelift’s contract following the team’s disappointing performance in the Spring Split, with speculation of internal conflicts between the player and the rest of the roster throughout.

According to ESPN, Team Liquid received interest over signing Doublelift from many teams, but he’s chosen to return to TSM over the other possibilities - which aren't named.

It’s claimed Doublelift will replace Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup on TSM’s roster, who joined the team back in November.

Doublelift previously won two LCS titles in 2016 and 2017 with TSM, before he was picked up by Team Liquid in the same year when his contract wasn’t renewed.

With Team Liquid, he’s won four consecutive championships across 2018 and 2019, although the team finished ninth in the recent Spring Split.

It’s possibly a disappointing end to Doublelift’s time with Team Liquid, who heading into this year’s Spring Split, were the favourites to take the trophy.

This year’s Spring Split was instead won by Cloud9, who marked their first LCS victory in six years with the title.

If the report is true, Doublelift will reunite with old teammates Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and Vincent “Biofrost” Wang on the TSM squad.
