Little Nightmares III has been delayed until 2025, according to a new 31 May 2024 update from Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco Europe. The teams made the announcement in an X/Twitter post on the Little Nightmares III account:
"As much as we can't wait for you to return to the Nowhere, we also want to make sure we give the game the care and love it deserves," the post from the Little Nightmares team reads. "Quality is also a top priority for us, and we know you feel the same way."
The team noted that more updates are coming later this summer, even though the game's release date has been pushed back to 2025 from 2024.
Prior to the team announcing that the game's release date was pushed back today, there have been few updates since its announcement at Gamescom back in August of 2023 - so, while many fans are likely discouraged to hear they'll need to wait a little longer for more Little Nightmares, it's great to at least hear an update on the game at all and some reassurance that it's not cancelled.
It's worth noting that layoffs from Supermassive preceded the delay, with the company laying off around 90 employees back in February. Supermassive, who's known for their widely successful 2015 horror title Until Dawn, is also currently working on The Casting of Frank Stone, a story-based game set in the Dead by Daylight universe.
