How to intercept a ball in Madden 22

Make sure you don’t let the opponent get away with a poorly thrown ball in Madden 22.

One of the key components of Madden 22 is knowing every small facet of playing either side of the ball.

If you want to successfully win games on a consistent basis, then you need to understand how to do the small things on the field as well as the big things, like calling the right play. Something that falls into this category is intercepting the ball. This is an element of Madden 22 that many newer players will not know how to do in their first few games.

However, the chance to intercept a ball is presented to players at least a couple of times a game. Quarterbacks aren’t perfect in Madden 22 and they’ll throw a poor pass every so often. When this happens, you need to know how to take it for yourself and run it back the other way.

The most common scenario to intercept a ball in Madden 22 is when the quarterback throws a deep ball to one of the receivers. However, there are also times when the QB will throw a touch pass over the middle to a tight end. In either scenario, players can intercept the ball with the right process.

The first step is to wait until the QB has thrown the ball. When this happens, you want to switch to the closest defender to the receiver the ball is intended for. However, you want to wait until the ball is close to the receiver and not immediately as the ball is thrown.

To switch players, you need to press Circle/B. This will make the game switch to the defender closest to the ball. Once this happens, you need to wait until the ball is about to be caught. From here, you can press Triangle/Y to go for the interception. This makes your defender jump with the receiver and gives them a chance to pick the ball off.

Of course, your chances of intercepting the ball lies with what defender you’re using. If you have someone like Stephon Gilmore going for the INT, then you have a decent shot. However, if you’re using a 70-rated cornerback, your chances aren’t as great.
