How To Fix MK1 Crashing on Consoles

Just like many other video games, Mortal Kombat 1 might crash at times. While most bugs might get fixed quickly by the developers via new Mortal Kombat 1 updates, there are some potential ways to stop the game from crashing on PS5, Xbox Series consoles, and Nintendo Switch.

With that in mind, we are just going to get to the point. In a troubleshooting page, WB Games Support has outlined how you can reinstall Mortal Kombat 1 on consoles and noted that if the game is crashing, it often indicates a problem with your game install. 

Reinstall MK1 on PS5

  1. Navigate to the game in your Games Hub.
  2. Press the Options button on your wireless controller after highlighting the game.
  3. Select "Delete" and confirm the deletion.
  4. You'll now need to reinstall your game. If you own a physical copy of your game, then reinsert the disc into your disc drive and allow the game to be reinstalled. If you received a digital copy of the game, then visit your Game Library and select Mortal Kombat 1 to download the game again.

Reinstall MK1 on Xbox Series X|S

  1. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
  2. From that menu, select "My Games and Apps" and then select "See all".
  3. Select the "Games" tab.
  4. Highlight your game and press the Menu button on your controller (the button with 3 lines on it) and then select the "Uninstall" option. Confirm the uninstall
  5. You'll now need to reinstall your game. If you own a physical copy of your game, then reinsert the disc into your disc drive and allow the game to be reinstalled, or visit "My Games and Apps" then the "Games tab" and select the game. If you received a digital copy of the game, then visit your "My Games and Apps" then choose the "Games tab". Find Mortal Kombat 1 and select "Install"

MK1 Crashing Fix on Nintendo Switch

For the Nintendo Switch, if Mortal Kombat 1 crashes, WB Games Support suggests turning the console off completely and then turning it back on again, just like in IT Crowd!

  1. Press and hold the POWER button at the top of your system, near the volume controls, for at least three seconds.
  2. Select "Power Options" from the menu that appears.
  3. Select "Turn Off".

The developers note that putting the console in Sleep Mode will not solve the issue.
